Hormonal regulation of digestion

-𝐆𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧: When food enters the stomach, gastrin tells the stomach to make more acid to help digest it.

As the food moves into the small intestine, 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧 (𝐂𝐂𝐊) is released, especially when there’s fat or protein. CCK signals the gallbladder to release bile to break down fats and it also slows the emptying of the stomach so the food can be digested properly.

-𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧: When acid from the stomach enters the small intestine, secretin tells the pancreas to release juices that help break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.

-𝐆𝐈𝐏 (𝐆𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐞-𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞): When glucose from food enters the blood, GIP signals the pancreas to release insulin to manage blood sugar.
