Noradrenaline
Norepinephrine is an organic chemical in the catecholamine family that acts as a hormone and neurotransmitter in the brain and body. The general function of norepinephrine is to mobilize the brain and body for action. Norepinephrine release is lowest during sleep, increases during wakefulness, and reaches much higher levels during stressful or dangerous situations, in the so-called fight-or-flight response. In the brain, norepinephrine increases arousal and alertness, promotes vigilance, improves memory formation and retrieval, and focuses attention; it also increases restlessness and anxiety.
When norepinephrine is low, you
may experience or feel:
-Lack of focus/energy/motivation
-Depression with apathy
-Excess adrenaline
-Insomnia
-Anxiety
-Stress
-Blood sugar imbalance
-Insulin resistance
-Allergic reactions
When norepinephrine levels are
high, you may experience or have:
-Stress and anxiety
-Hyperactivity
-Increased blood pressure
-Pain
