Types of Baby Foods
A. Stage 1: Purees (4-6 Months)
Baby foods are tailored to align
with an infant's developmental stages, ensuring safe introduction to solid
foods while meeting their nutritional needs.
These are smooth and
single-ingredient foods like pureed carrots, apples, and rice cereal.
These foods introduce infants to new flavors while being
easy on their digestive systems.
They are free from allergens and complex flavors to minimize
food sensitivities.
B. Stage 2: Textured Foods (7-8 Months)
Stage 2 foods have a slightly thicker consistency and may
include combinations of ingredients
like apple-banana or carrot-lentil puree.
These foods help babies transition to chewing and swallowing
thicker textures.
Nutritional diversity is introduced to provide a wider range
of vitamins and minerals.
C. Stage 3: Finger Foods and Small Pieces (9-12 Months)
At this stage, self-feeding is encouraged through small,
bite-sized pieces of soft foods like steamed vegetables, fruits, and cheese
cubes.
Exposure to a variety of textures and flavors helps improve
fine motor skills and fosters independence.
